History tells us that Henry VIII was at the other end of the spectrum.

The good news is that now most value both female and male offspring, there are many reproductive fertility options, and there aren't many governments that have to worry about the rights of succession:)

Thanks for a good article.Johannes Keplerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11722466973291851003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8685367863184341468.post-2700016666338698792011-03-10T00:05:27.750-08:002011-03-10T00:05:27.750-08:00very nice information you have shared with us..

The one thing that I try to focus on so I won't go insane is that it rests on God and if it doesn't work I will still be alive and there is another direction. I say this to keep my mind positive. I am trying to prepare myself for the best and the worst but some reason I know I will never be prepared for failure so therefore I just keep praying that in less than 2 months I will hopefully and Lord willing be pregnant.

No one knows what we go through till they step in our shoes. My husband and I suffer from infertility and it's very hard for our family and friends to understand, because none of them have ever gone through it. I have shared your blog with them through my blog and have had some family members tell me that while they still don't totally understand it, they have a little more knowledge of what we are going through, especially emotionally. Your writing has a way of explaining things to those fertile people, and that amazes me, and for that, I thank you.

(And yes, I would like one of those prescriptions to stress, because no matter how much I tell one of my friends that stress does not cause infertility, she won't quit telling me to relax. :) )Karahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13994868274673406813noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8685367863184341468.post-19305152119898109072009-08-13T08:11:15.897-07:002009-08-13T08:11:15.897-07:00I stumbled across your blog recently and just have...I stumbled across your blog recently and just have to comment on how wonderful it is. You must truly be such a compassionate doctor, which is unbelievably important (believe me- as a former IF patient). I'm so glad there are people like you out thre and although I hope the IF community can read your blog, I also hope that other REs can read your blog and see this unique perspective as well.

Your post about m/c really touched me as I suffered 8 pregnancy losses before having wonderful boy/girl twins (now 14 months :-) through a gestational surrogate. My cause of loss was never fully identified (some rare immune conditions showed up but those are heavily debated to even exist, so who knows). But we know for sure in retrospect it was my uterus b/c my surro got pg with viable triplets (reduced to twins) via FET the first try, whereas my 2 IVFs resulted in miscarriages- even with the same batch of embryos. Anyway, it was a painful path but we gratefully found a solution.
Incidentally, my brother also suffers from IF so it's so touching for me to hear a male perspective as well (we dont' hear much fo that usually). They also have a heartbreaking story where they took 4 years to conceive a healthy girl, and she died in stillbirth (at 41 weeks). That was heart-wrenching. They are still not pg again but very hopeful as they are about to start a cycle at Cornell (the clinic that solved my problems).
Anyway, sorry to burden you with my family's story- my point was that I really appreciate your posts (all of them) and your perspective. It used to really hurt my feelings...exspecially when they would say things like when are you guys going to have kids...but now I am kinda numb to it and just smile and say we are working on it. I guess this is my defense mechanism. As someone with a Catholic upbringing (and several family members who are very strict Catholic), we often wonder what our extended family thinks of the lengths that we will go to in order to have children. But no one (except God) knows our struggles, our hurts & our desires like we do and no one can judge until they've walked even a day in our shoes.Terihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01001461389954965086noreply@blogger.com
